Smiley Interviews Sara Bareilles and Marc Broussard, plus concert highlights!
Hot on the heels of her extremely successful first headlining tour over the summer, songstress Sara Bareilles will make her debut Indianapolis performance as the star of Z99.5’s Boo Bash 2008. The show also features Marc Broussard and the eclectic rock-folk band Raining Jane opening the show.
Bareilles is touring in support of her Epic Records debut album, Little Voice, recently certified Gold by the RIAA. The album features her first hit, “Love Song,” which became one of the biggest songs from the past year, and its Top 15 follow-up, “Bottle It Up.” Bareilles has emerged as one of the most interesting breakthrough artists of 2008. She stands in a class of her own with a blend of pop, soul, and jazz that reveals an incredible vocal prowess. Little Voice skyrocketed up the Billboard Top 200 chart and reached #1 on the iTunes album chart.
Broussard is no stranger to Z99.5 listeners, having stolen the show at the station’s 2004 Jingle Jam concert. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, his style is best described as “Bayou Soul,” a mix of funk, blues, R&R, rock, and pop. He recently finished his sixth solo project, Must Be The Water, while on board “The Rock Boat VII” cruise in January; its title track was the official NBA All Star Game theme song. Broussard is active in philanthropic work in Louisiana, having founded the Momentary Setback Fund to benefit victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and donated all the proceeds from his 2005 release Bootleg to Benefit to recovery efforts. He also donates his time for USO Tours, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity projects around his Cajun home, where he still lives.
