Last year Indianapolis came in at number 55 on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live list. In fact, Indy came in at number 55 in 2017, too. But this year we made a pretty significant jump, coming in at number 38.
The rankings are based on a variety of things rated on a scale of 10. Indianapolis rated rather low for desirability, but high in value and job market. Indy Star shared the overall score of 6.7/10 and individual ratings: 5.8 for desirability; 8.1 for value; 6.9 for job market; 6.1 for quality of life; and 6.5 for net migration.
Fort Wayne came in on the heels of Indy at number 40. For the third year in a row, Austin, TX topped the list.
