There’s been a lot of buzz about the fate of the short-form video app we all know: TikTok. With Trump looking to ban the Chinese-owned app, a handful of large companies have stepped up to bid on the apps operations in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Microsoft has thrown in their hat and Walmart has joined them in a group effort to buy their piece of the pie — because Walmart has everything, right?
NPR explains that owning TikTok would give Microsoft and Walmart an edge in advertising in the app. There are rumors that Oracle and Twitter also have interest in buying, so we’ll have to stay tuned.
