Demi Lovato teamed up with #zplJingleJam alum Marshmello for their song “It’s Ok Not To Be Ok” which touches on things that have happened in the past for both music lovers. Lovatic fans know Demi has been pretty open about her mental health and substance abuse in the past and I’m proud of her for continuing her fight and making this song, which brings light to the situation.
The music video starts off with both artists waking up in their childhood bedrooms and as the video plays, their past insecurities start to show. You see their current selves essentially comforting their younger selves going through hard times and letting them know that it’s ok to not be ok.
She posted about the collab on her Instagram saying “#OKNotToBeOK is out now with the incredible @marshmellomusic!! Take a moment today to check in with yourself and your loved ones.”

September is National suicide prevention month and I appreciate that Demi and Marshmello partnered with Hope for the Day, a nonprofit that helps with suicide prevention and mental health education.
