Most of my playlists over the past year have been along the lines of Songs to Cry in the Closet To, but with a glimmer of hope comes a whole new vibe.
Spotify noticed that its users have been making playlists for their COVID-19 vaccinations (which isn’t surprising since most of us have seen friends and family sharing their vaccination selfies soundtracked with music or referencing song lyrics), and now they’ve made their own vaccine playlist. It’s got 25 tracks and most of them reference shots or just have an optimistic vibe.
Here they are:
1. “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, Pat Benatar
2. “Save Your Tears”, The Weeknd
3. “Here Comes the Sun”, The Beatles
4. “The Cure”, Lady Gaga
5. “My Shot”, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of “Hamilton”
6. “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”, ABBA
7. “Good Days”, SZA
8. “Vete”, Bad Bunny
9. “Jolene”, Dolly Parton
10. “Feeling Good”, Nina Simone
11. “Drink in My Hand”, Eric Church
12. “Do It”, Chloe x Halle
13. “I’m So Excited”, The Pointer Sisters
14. “Good as Hell”, Lizzo
15. “Big Shot”, Billy Joel
16. “Up”, Cardi B
17. “The Final Countdown”, Europe
18. “I’m Still Standing”, Elton John
19. “Hips Don’t Lie”, Shakira and Wyclef Jean
20. “How to Save a Life”, The Fray
21. “Walking on Sunshine”, Katrina and the Waves
22. “My Church”, Maren Morris
23. “Shot in the Dark”, AC/DC
24. “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)”, Whitney Houston
25. “Waiting on the World to Change”, John Mayer
Someone needs to explain to me how LMFAO and Lil John’s “Shots” didn’t make the cut.
