Earlier this week, it made headlines that it was confirmed Harry Styles would be playing the role of Price Eric in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. According to Broadway World, Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel in their remake of their classic film. Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay, Javier Bardem and Awkwafina are also in talks to be part of the film. The Disney film is set to begin production early next year. The former One Direction singer has been in films before including his acting debut with Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
However, not any hours after the news broke, a source close to Harry said that “Styles is a fan of the project but respectfully declined.” No other major reason has been released other than the fact I might cry.
