The Original London Bridge Ended Up Where?

The original London Bridge was constructed in 1832 and did a good job getting those horse and buggies across the River Thames for quite some time. Around the 1960’s it wasn’t sound anymore and wasn’t really equipped to handle the higher traffic flows with the increased population so they  needed a new one. So when it was dismantled they decided to sell it and the highest bidder was an Oil Tycoon named Robert P. McCullouch decided he wanted to take that bridge and bring it over to the US. It was reconstructed in Arizona at Lake Havasu hoping to attract tourists to the area which it did.  It even made its way into a Mellencamp song- remember this line “I’ve seen the London Bridge In the middle of the desert”?
