A Florida woman who won $1,000 in the lottery is out of luck after her winning ticket was lost in the mail.
Sue Burgess says she won the $1,000 drawing on July 29th. But the Lottery office was closed due to the pandemic, so she decided to send the ticket by certified mail instead. Tracking information shows the ticket arriving at the post office on August 12th, but for some reason it was never delivered. Now she’s been told by the Lottery “no ticket, no prize”. The Postal Service has apologized for any “inconvenience” to Burgess – which probably doesn’t make her feel any better.
What should the Lottery or Post Office do here? Ever had an important letter lost in the mail?
