In a recent survey out of Britain, 67% of people admitted that they’ve fake-laughed at jokes they don’t understand just to “fit in.” And 56% have even retold a joke that they don’t understand.
Another 56% said they’ve looked up the meaning of a joke that they didn’t get.
The study also identified specific “jokes” that tended to confuse people, and these two tripped up almost half the people in the study: One is . . . “How do you drown a Hipster? In the mainstream.” And the other is . . . “Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.”
