PETE DAVIDSON, COLIN JOST, and comedy club owner Paul Italia bought a Staten Island ferry boat named John F. Kennedy for $280,000. It was built in 1965 and was the oldest in the fleet before being retired last year.
Paul said, “The idea is to turn the space into a live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art . . . We’re in the early stages, but everybody involved had the same ambition . . . not to see this thing go to the scrapyard.”
Pete and Colin joked about their purchase during the Weekend Update segment on “Saturday Night Live”.
Pete said, “We bought a ferry, the windowless van of the sea . . . We’re boat people now, Colin . . . I mean, you always were. You look like, you know, you own the yacht they rent out for rap videos.”
Mayor Eric Adams offered his support too. He tweeted, “I love this idea. What a great way to give a NYC icon a second life. Let us know how we can help and we’ll be there for the maiden voyage.”
