I’m not sure when Magic: The Gathering became cool, but Post Malone says it’s now.
Posty dropped $800,000 on a single card and now he’s offering a $100,000 prize if you can beat him at the game. It’s a promotion he’s doing with the live shopping platform Whatnot.
“We built Whatnot with the ethos of offering hands-down the best experiences for the most passionate enthusiasts, hobbyists, and collectors. Post Malone, both as an artist and as a person, fits perfectly into this growing and supportive community,” added John Walters, Whatnot’s head of special projects. “As a multi-talented artist with skills that extend beyond music — and as an avid Magic: The Gathering player and formidable opponent — we’re looking forward to seeing him battle it out live with one of our dedicated fans.”
The event’s happening in two parts: the first on August 4, when you can enter to play against Post Malone; and the second on August 11, when you’ll be sitting across from him trying to win that $100,000.
And don’t worry if you know absolutely nothing about Magic: The Gathering – you’ll be trained by 2011 MTG Champion Reid Duke.
